no experience? No problem!
I’ve never done anything like this before…
That’s okay. We have. Many, many, many times. Even though each shoot is different for us, the creative process for making ideas become a reality is the same, the fundamental posing techniques are the same, the principals of lighting are the same, etc, etc….
You don’t need to have any experience, you will be guided from the very first step to the very end when you hang your photographs. All you really need to do is tell us what you like, what your style is, your preferences, and how you would like to be portrayed in a photograph. Even if you are unsure of that, we will work with you to find out.
You can leave your beauty worries at the door because our talented hair and makeup artist will take care of that for you. As for wardrobe, we go over all that together, we discuss what to bring, and we also have wardrobe at the studio that you have access to if you are bored with your own clothing. And if you request it, our stylist will come to help with proper fittings and additional outfits on the day of the shoot.
I don’t know what to do on set…
So far you have been helped in defining your vision, you’ve been done up with professional hair & makeup, and on to wardrobe where you are styled and finally ready to go on set and start shooting. Now it is you performing, and you might be a little unsure of what to do.
We start simple and begin with direction that is easy to follow and slowly strengthen and enhance the poses. You will soon see how easy it is, and your confidence will start rising. You are guided through all the posing, so you are never at a loss for what to do. We focus on the angles that will be the most flattering for your look, and we give constant positive feedback to assure you that you are doing everything right for the shot.
Reactions after the shoot
Time and time again our new clients share with us that they admitted to being nervous prior to the shoot. The unknown is always uncertain, so there is always going to be concern when doing anything new. And just because we have done it a thousand times, we still recognize that it’s a first time for you.
We are amazed however, that when we call ‘thats a wrap’ there is usually clapping and ‘Oh my god, that was actually really fun!’ This is generally followed by (up until recently) lots of hugging and sometimes even hanging out after the shoot for a glass of wine.
Here is what one of our recent clients had to say about the fashion portrait shoot experience:
